Program information

Septima P. Clark Academy (SPCA) is a full-service academic acceleration and alternative education program. Students apply for admission and participate in an interview process to ensure the program is the right fit for them and their families.

SPCA serves overage and under-credited students who are motivated to accelerate their path toward graduation. Our small class sizes allow for personalized instruction and strong student–teacher relationships. As a cell phone–free learning environment, we promote focus, engagement, and meaningful connection.

We serve up to 150 students across Charleston County School District, ranging from grade 8.5 through 12. Students complete required courses on a 4x4 block schedule, with additional learning opportunities available through Edgenuity and South Carolina Virtual School, all taught by highly qualified teachers dedicated to student success.

Septima P. Clark Academy Goals

Goal 1:
Increase the number of overage students who successfully complete high school by the end of their fifth year.

Goal 2:
Increase the number of students who graduate from Charleston County School District with a high school diploma.

Goal 3:
Reduce potential dropout rates by helping overage 8th-grade students earn high school credits while still in middle school.
